Penne Rigate
Penne is the plural form of the Italian penna, meaning "feather" or "quill". The Penne are about one and a half inches long, with rough ridged walls, hollow inside and cut on a slant to help them scoop up, capture and trap the sauce inside.
Sensational with thick and chunky sauces and most famously with a spicy arrabbiata!
Most excellent too when baked and therefore one of the staple ingredients of baked pasta dishes. Also a very popular ingredient in pasta salads.
