In medieval times the word Laudemio in Tuscany was used to name that part of the olive harvest deemed to be the best and so reserved especially for the lord, the owner of the lands. Laudemio has since those times always been synonymous with exceptional quality and since 1986 has been the name of a Consortium of some 26 single estate producers founded to guarantee the provenance and quality of Tuscan extra virgin olive oil.
Today the 29th generation (!!) of the Frescobaldi family produce their consistently outstanding olive oil with handpicked Frantoio (70%), Moraiolo (20%) and Leccino (10%) olives which are pressed in their own mill on their beautiful Castello di Nipozzano estate. The oil has excellent balance, with a delicious aroma of freshly cut grass, unripe banana and some darker notes of bitter chocolate. Superbly smooth oil, it has flavours of bitter leaves and green apple peel, growing into a pleasant warm, peppery spice and a very long, lingering finish. It is bottled in the distinctive faceted bottle chosen by the Laudemio Consorzio and very attractively boxed, to keep it out of the light. HARVEST DATE: November 2017 best before end: June 2019
