Meet Our Unsung Heroes: The Artisan Wine Vinegars You Shouldn’t Overlook
When you think of The Gift of Oil, our Sicilian extra-virgin high-polyphenol olive oil, heritage balsamic vinegars and delicious infused oils and balsamics might be the first things that spring to mind.
And quite rightly — they’re the stars of our range!
But tucked alongside these flavour-packed favourites are two products that perhaps don’t always get the attention they deserve: our artisan red and white wine vinegars.
We think it’s time to put them firmly in the spotlight.
Made in Sicily, with a wonderful family heritage
Our red and white wine vinegars are made on the magnificent Disisa Estate in Northern Sicily, the same estate where our Sicilian olive oils are produced.
And just like our olive oils, they have a wonderful connection to the land and the Di Lorenzo family’s traditional approach to food production.
Our red wine vinegar is made from the estate’s own Nero d’Avola red wine, while our white wine vinegar is made from estate-grown Chardonnay.
But what really makes them special is what happens next.
The vinegars are lovingly matured in ancient wooden barrels in the Di Lorenzo family cellar for up to two years. This traditional maturation process gives them time to develop their own distinctive character, depth and complexity.
Two vinegars, two very different personalities. Although they share the same exceptional origins, our red and white wine vinegars each bring something different to the table.
Artisan Red Wine Vinegar
Complex, mellow and beautifully aromatic, our red wine vinegar has a wonderful depth that makes it incredibly versatile.
It’s delicious paired with our Sicilian extra virgin olive oil for a classic salad dressing, but it can also bring richness and balance to marinades, sauces, gravies and hearty casseroles.
Artisan White Wine Vinegar
Our white wine vinegar is delicate, fresh and wonderfully fragrant.
Its lighter character makes it particularly lovely with green salads, vegetables, fish and seafood, where it adds a bright, subtle acidity without overpowering the other flavours.
From simple vinaigrettes to delicious French dressings
One of the easiest ways to enjoy our wine vinegars is to combine them with our premium Sicilian olive oil to create your own French dressing.

Honey French
A delicious combination of sweet and tangy flavours. The gentle sweetness of honey balances the acidity beautifully, making it a wonderful dressing for salads, chicken, vegetables and cheese.
Four delicious dressings, ready to drizzle, dip and enjoy. But don’t stop at salad dressing… Our artisan wine vinegars deserve to be used for so much more than salads.
Use them to:
- Add brightness to marinades for meat, chicken or vegetables
- Give sauces and gravies extra depth
- Balance rich casseroles and slow-cooked dishes
- Add a little acidity to roasted vegetables
- Dress fresh salads and leafy greens
- Complement fish and seafood
- Create your own homemade vinaigrettes
- Add a finishing touch to cooked dishes
Sometimes it’s that little splash of acidity that brings an entire dish together.
Why we call them our “unsung heroes”
They may not always steal the limelight like our Sicilian olive oils or aged balsamics, but our artisan wine vinegars have a special place in The Gift of Oil range.
They’re traditional, beautifully made and incredibly versatile — and sometimes, it’s the quieter ingredients that can make the biggest difference to a dish.
Our unsung heroes may be understated, but they certainly know how to make an impact!
